Our Story
Over Memorial Day Weekend 2015, Johnny and Dillon started working at Harvey Cedars Shellfish Company—Johnny as a steamer and Dillon as a cold girl. They barely spoke to each other, much to the amusement of their coworkers and boss! After several summers of working together, summer 2020 changed everything. Between the chaos of the busiest summer yet and a little trauma bonding (if you know, you know), Dillon finally worked up the courage to say something to John other than “Can I get a corn?”—on the very last night of summer, of course! Months of nonstop texting and FaceTiming followed, and on May 1, 2021, they officially started dating. After years of long-distance between NJ, DC, and eventually Charlottesville, John finally moved in with Dillon in July 2025. In the summer of 2026, after celebrating five years together, Johnny headed back to LBI for another summer at Shellfish while Dillon joined him in Cape Cod for a family trip. On their last night, after getting Dillon’s dad’s blessing and retrieving her great-grandmother’s ring from her mom, Johnny asked Dillon to go for a walk. With the marsh as their backdrop, the sun setting, and their newest Beachcomber sweatshirts on, he asked her to marry him. From summer shifts to long-distance love to forever, Johnny and Dillon can’t wait to celebrate with all their favorite people on **December 31, 2027!**
